But southwest gusty winds and relative humidity around 15 percent will bring a fire weather watch into the area for Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
An area of low pressure will move south toward the Great Basin on Saturday then then across the area on Sunday, resulting in stronger winds and an increase in clouds, the weather service said.
The fire weather watch will be in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening, with winds west to southwest 20 to 30 mph and gusts around 40 mph. Along with a humidity level of 15 percent, the winds could create conditions for wildfires, they said.
The weather service also says that the strong storm system diving into northern Nevada Saturday night into Sunday will create gusty winds on area lakes this weekend.
They said gusts of 30 mph are expected on Saturday afternoon and evening and even strong winds are expected on Sunday, with gusts as high as 35 to 45 mph. The winds will create choppy to rough water that could capsize boats and other personal watercraft, they said.
On Sunday, afternoon temperatures will be 20 degrees lower than this afternoon, reaching a high of only 74 in the valley, they said. Showers will also be possible on Sunday, primarily north of Las Vegas, forecasters said.
Monday's Memorial Day holiday will bring sunny skies, with a high near 81 degrees, forecasters said.
At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 67 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 66 degrees. The record low was 44 degrees, set in 1953.
Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 68 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 62 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 63 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.
Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 78 degrees by 9 a.m., to 89 degrees by noon and reach a high of 96 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 92 degrees and the record high was 108 degrees, set in 1974.
Temperatures are expected to be 96 degrees at 6 p.m., then drop to to 88 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 81 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.
Saturday's morning low will be 72 degrees and Saturday's high will climb to 91 degrees, they said.
