Obaid Sheikh at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Inspired by Punjabi embellishments, fashion designer Obaid Sheikh presented culture and heritage, at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2, day two. 

To present the true shade of Punjab, Obaid Sheikh has used the colors purple in abundance as he experimented with chiffons, crepe silk, georgettes and pure atlus. Obaid Sheikh meticulously constructed fitted patterns, flowing skirts as well as gathers. Obaid Sheikh showcased the material in a complimentary and chic fashion. The whole composition was summarized as ethnic work in western cuts, which was a brilliant fusion of East and West.

Obaid Sheikh believes Pun-Jammni is anything but ordinary, therefore his designs are wearable on, and off the ramp. Along with the use of traditional Punjabi handwork Obaid has also used contemporary cuts so as to ensure a balanced collection.

Nida Azwer at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Fashion designer Nida Azwer through her women’s wear prêt a porter collection entitled “Juxtapose” presented at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2, day two.

Fashion designer Nida Azwer showcases the Juxtaposition between contemporary style and ancient art. The motifs for this collection were inspired by one of our oldest civilization, ‘Mehergarh’ that was discovered in 1974 and is now seen as a precursor to the Indus Valley civilization. “Juxtapose” was based in a monochromatic palette, highlighted the contrasting effect between black, white and Nida’s traditional inspiration, fused with her contemporary cuts, thereby seeking to bring forth the dichotomy that exists in “Juxtapose’s” choice of colors and design.

For this collection Fashion designer Nida Azwer has used natural fabrics such as muslin, chiffons and silks with an emphasis on signature Nida Azwer screen printing.

Luckhu at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Fashion designers Mariam Qureshi and Zara Chaudhri by the Fashion label Luckhu launched their collection titled, ‘Pearls and Caviar’ at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2, day two.

The fashion assortment depicted the life’s treasure trove of jollity and merry-making. Presented by the designer-duo Mariam Qureshi and Zara Chaudhri, it was jog back to the cosmopolitan of 1920s, an era of elegant sophistication when jazzy festivities vogue. Themed for cocktail parties and formal evening wear, the presentation reminisced the early twentieth century. Assortment was predominantly based on raw silks, chiffons and brocade with a touch of velvet and accessorized with updo’s adorned with pearls.

Imbias at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Among some other fashion designers, Imran & Rabia also showcased their uniquely design philosophy at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2.

Fashion designers Imran & Rabia titled their collection as ‘Glamour-ama’, inspired by the extension of human intellect. Their assortment was based on the intricacies of cut, volume and embellishment with the diffusion of western cuts. Imran & Rabia used the mixture of various shades and experimented with insubstantial fabrics in novel clothing. This might be the reason that the collection of Fashion designers Imran & Rabia was represented a blend of fantasy and creativity.

The whole composition was a set of contrasts created by adroit use of matt and finished fabrics such as satin, chiffon, and rich silk. The corollary was a combination of dull and shiny, rough, and smooth, and closed and transparent. Every outfit was reimbursed and technically finished to give a new look to red carpet culture for Spring/Summer 2010.

After successfully showcased his designing philosophy at the Fashion Pakistan Week 1, Fashion designer Ali Xeeshan also amazed the fashion audience at Fashion Pakistan Week 2. Ali Zeehan used conventional materials to create unorthodox aesthetics and a simple harmony between the traditional and the modern-grade. The collection by Fashion designer Ali Xeeshan depicted the spirit of joy, merry-making, the adrenaline rush that took the audience to another world. The silk, chiffon, laces and lame created the perfect embodiment of happiness and revelry.

Zaheer Abbas at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Zaheer Abbas, the new emerging fashion designer presented his debut collection at Pakistan Fashion Week 2.

Keeping Simplicity as his philosophy, the collection “Lady Un-veil” was inspired from the elements of Islamic art. Fashion designer Zaheer Abbas reflected an emblem of geometric structure and flow with prominent illustration of silhouettes and free-flowing designs. Dazzling rich colors of mosaics and the immense use of chiffon in the assortment of Fashion designer Zaheer Abbas added volume to the Pakistan Fashion Week 2.

Ghunghurs added an indulging rhythm to this symphony; along with the grace, symmetry and style.

Shella Rehman at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

A culmination of Shella Rehman’s was representing the designer’s aspiration to create awareness of style at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2.
The fashionable embodiment with the feeling that was raised from within modeling awareness and changing trends in our society; ‘Ornate White’ by Shella Rehman was all that and more.

Fashion designer Shella Rehman presented cotton ensembles paired with traditional gota embellishments in ethereal white. The use of gota was vital part of the outfits, worn by the affluent of the subcontinent as well. The use of embellishment on crushed cotton, chicken and cotton with ribbon embroidery in this collection was traditional one at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2.  The collection was also creating a metallic and fabled symbol of our culture and history.

Fashion designer Shella Rehman provided a boost through her presentation to the cottage craft industry; by using this traditional embellishment paired with contemporary cuts, and brought about a fusion of the past and present.

Shakil Saigol at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

After showing his guts in the fields of painting, photography, singing, and jewelry designing Shakil Saigol’s is now, a menswear designer.

Fashion designer Shakil Saigol showcased his debut collection at the Fashion Pakistan Week 2.
“East by South East’ was the title of the collection also a continuation of his series of paintings that he is currently working on. The assortment was an extension of his black and white paintings with the Zebraz as the central motif on muslin, silk, velvet and corduroy. It also included his pre-occupation head executed by Yousuf Bashir Qureshi.

It is also said that Fashion designer Shakil Saigol’s outfits are very easy to sport and even attract women. Fashion designer Shakil Saigol believes that one should have his own individual style and should not ape fashion blindly. The ensembles of Fashion designer Shakil Saigol at the Fashion Pakistan Week 2 were the passionately worked pieces of art.

Samar Mehdi at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Samar Mehdi’s designs were giving the impact of a joyous celebration of womanhood at the Fashion Pakistan Week 2.

Being an absolute illustration of femininity, Samar Mehdi projected independence and attitude through the collection. ‘Ambiance – The Land, The woman and Her Man’ assortment was inspired by the beauty and mystique of the great land of Rajasthan. Incorporated the traditional motifs and colors with contemporary cuts and silhouettes, the Fashion anthology by Samar Mehdi amazed the audience.

For this particular collection, Mehdi dove back into her college years, find inspiration from a mood board she did thirteen years ago for a project on Rajasthan. That initial ethos evolved into this exquisite presentation.

Rabia at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Fashion designer Rabia’s mystical modernity captured her most personal item of clothing = her veils, at the Fashion Pakistan Week 2.

The first Islamic designer Rabia Z showcased colorful, creative and contemporary form of covering up. Rabia’s ensembles were filled with boundless energy. With shades from a rainbow palette, her cuts were the combination of feminine yet sporty, with a soft flow. The colorful scarves by Fashion designer Rabia Z were in different styles of veils, along with the beautiful accessories. Wraps and asymmetrical edges were provided an urbane edge to the tops.

Inspired by the simplicity of Japanese master; the innovative minimalist silhouettes sign in avant-grade casual chic. Using soft knit jerseys, floating and pleated chiffons with a hing of texture and prints, Rabia silhouettes were ranging from sun up to sun down – from sportswear to casual comfort wear as well as super chic sundresses.

Monia Farooqi at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

Divided into three segments, the collection of Monia Faruqui was a slight shift from what she generally creates, at the Fashion Pakistan Week 2.

In the first segment Faruqui has dramatically played with her embroidered fabrics followed by a presentation of prints with different cuts. Later on, the signature by Monia Faruqi presented heavily embroidered formal ensembles with crystals. Her overall collection was about a lot of colors bold embroidery and classic discharge prints on cotton and chiffon. To complete the tropical paradise look, a lot of floral accessories were used making the collection a spring full of joy.

Ethnic fabric, of Ajrak, was the infusion of new life and it was Abdul Samad’s 2010 collection that portrayed its revival through vibrant patterns and motifs meticulously crafted with a western touch.

Fashion designer Abdul Samad’s presentation at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2 depicted a carefree soul who can effortlessly dress up for any occasion. Abdul Samad has added a dash of eccentricity through contrasting shorts and frilled shirts all enhanced with patterned prints.
