HDIL India Couture Week 2010 - Manish Malhotra Bridal

Wednesday, 8 June 2011

I am surprised by Manish Malhotra's collection at HDIL Couture Week, surprised because it's not that bad! I mean compared to what he showed at Pearls Delhi Couture Week or Lakme Winter Festive. The Pearls DCW collection was quite tacky and the 'Aircel colours' he used for Lakme Winter Festive were jarring, in his typical style Manish really brought it on, by creating the shaadi baraati ambiance with his HDIL collection. Or maybe it was the jewellery from Anmol that made all the difference, the ornaments were exquisite!

Although Manish's showstopper was Aishwariya Rai, it was sad the he put her in the worst outfit in the entire collection, that white corset top with the ghagra skirt looks sorry. I don't know what's with the world's most beautiful women and her luck with bad designer clothes? Stunning Ash takes your breadth away when she's decked in Elie Saab or Roberto Cavalli couture gowns, she knocks off all the Hollywood goris from best dressed lists. It's sad that she gets a raw deal sometimes from our very own desi designers. It wouldn't hurt to study up a bit on fashion Ash, it's never too late. By now you should've been adept at discriminating between classy and tacky. I mean kudos to you for switching over from Neeta Lulla (if in case you really did), but then again...there are plenty of stylists here to help you make better choices. Lesson 1, corset tops and skirts are soo 2003, ditch em, and those fluffy, long sleeve anarkalis that make you look dowdy.
